TEMPLATE process

Templates are the best starting point when you are ready to design a professional website for a customer using the editor. The system includes two different types of templates. 1: BASE TEMPLATES - templates that do not contain any pre-defined styling. 2: STYLE TEMPLATES - templates that are category specific and contain pre-defined styles includes category-specific images and page layouts.


The design process starts already during the interview phase with a customer where a sales consultant asks customers about their website needs and wishes in terms of design, content and conversion types (phone calls, mails, etc). If the customer chooses a Mono Style Template in the beginning of the process, the easiest step is of course to use this template and then make small changes to match the customer's requests. If the customer has defined their design wishes based on a website they've seen on the web somewhere, it might be easier to use a Base Template as a starting point.

Below we've described the three major phases you'll go through when taking a Mono Template and turning it into a customized website for a customer. Also included is a video explaining the process.


Using the client brief or interview, choose a template in RAI. If the customer has chosen a design from the selection of Style Templates, choose this one. Otherwise, choose from a Base Template that will work as the best starting point for the website needs and wishes the customer expressed.

Once you've selected a template, you're ready to begin styling the website. Follow the Dogma Rules for Mono Templates in order to customize the design step by step based on the customer's wishes.


After you've finished following the Dogma Rules to style the site, you'll need to polish up the page layout or in some cases, create a whole new page layout. We recommend using Module Groups whenever possible as they're already optimized for the different viewports.If you do make edits in the module groups, make sure to check out the page layout in the different viewports.


Once you've build up the layout, add the correct content (text, images, video, etc) across the new page layouts. Remember to clear the styling of the text you paste in before you add it, then add the text styling using the text editor toolbar.

Make sure all the images in the rows look as expected across viewports. Remember it's possible to add different images in rows in the different viewports, this way you can optimize the composure of the image for the size of the view, especially in mobile.

Remember then to optimize all your content for SEO including adding the page-level texts using the gear icon next to the page title in the page tree. You can also define headlines as H1, H2, etc, throughout the page. Finally, remember to add alt text to all images.
